Balloon behind house
Our balloons are between 75 and 85 feet tall (about 9 stories)
and hold from 140,000 to 160,000 cubic feet of air.
(think of a cubic foot as about the size of a basketball)
The gondolas are large enough to accommodate up to 7 passengers and a pilot.
(number of passengers carried per flight is determined by weight)
The envelopes (fabric part) weigh between 350 and 400 pounds
and the baskets weigh around 750 pounds.
(including burners, fuel tanks and fuel)
The balloons use liquid propane gas
(just like you use in your barbeque grill at home)
and carry a total of 60 gallons.
Propane weighs between 4.2 and 4.3 pounds per gallon,
so the fuel alone is over 250 pounds!
